Sell Springs by comparing their technological excellence with Aristotle’s advances in science. Herbert Terry & Sons (now Terry Springs) was founded in Redditch, where it still operates, in 1913. It revolutionised desk lighting by manufacturing the springs in Anglepoise Lamps. This advertisement from the early 1960s is probably inspired by the Peripatetic text called Mechanics. It was long attributed to Aristotle, as in this 1566 printed edition, and although its authorship has been disputed, the most recent research, by Dr Mike Coxhead, has argued that it is certainly by a Peripatetic and that no further conclusion can be drawn.
